The Shrimp Hatchery Association of Bangladesh (SHAB) proudly marks a milestone moment for the nation’s shrimp sector. Our honorable President, Mr. Lutfur Rahman (Former Member of Parliament), attended a pivotal meeting at the Department of Fisheries at the kind invitation of the Fisheries and Livestock Advisor.
The discussion centered on revisiting and reforming the current fishing ban period in Bangladesh — a crucial issue that directly affects shrimp hatcheries and coastal livelihoods. The existing ban overlaps with the peak breeding season for mother shrimp, posing significant challenges for the industry’s sustainability and production continuity.
SHAB is actively working with the government to propose a more balanced and scientifically informed timeframe — one that safeguards natural resources while ensuring the long-term growth and stability of the shrimp industry.
Together, we are shaping a stronger, more sustainable future for Bangladesh’s aquaculture sector.
